So Many Berad Choices!

Beards and mustaches are amazing! A nice-looking handle bar mustache or well-groomed beard are always a conversation piece. There are so many ways to wear a beard or mustache, or both! With handsome beard and/or mustache comes great responsibility. Don’t forget to outfit yourself as well! You wouldn’t wear a nice suit and not press the shirt, so why would you not comb out your beard?

There are so many beard and mustache styles out there to embrace. There is a Full Beard or Short Box Beard and Scruff. The Chin Strap and Chin Curtain. There is the Goatee and the Soul patch. Don’t forget about the mustache! There is the Fu Manchu and the Pencil. The Cop Stache and the Dali and my favorite the Handlebar.

You can see there are so many combinations to choose from, so how do you go about choosing what looks good on you? The easy answer is grow it out and ask people. If you don’t want to ask your friends or significant others ask your barber. They are not going to lie to you, their name is attached to your beard. As a starter this is a pretty good diagram. You wouldn’t buy clothes that didn’t fit your body or your style so why would you put the time and effort into growing a beard that doesn’t look right.

Growing a beard or mustache takes time, so first thing is to have patience and let it grow! With that being said don’t just leave it there and expect it to do what you want. When I first started growing my beard and mustache out I didn’t realize everything that went into it. To get started you need a few things to help you along the way.

First off get actual beard and mustache care product. We talked about this in our second blog so take a look. Then get yourself a great brush and comb. Combing your beard daily is a must! You are training the little hairs to grow into the shape you are desiring. Brushing your beard should be done once a day ideally after you shower. If you brush it to much it can create split ends and damage your beard and mustache you have been working so hard on. I prefer to use my comb because I can comb it as much as I want really. At first a cheap comb and brush is okay but I recommend purchasing a wooden comb when you can because its less likely to damage anything. Combing your beard from the bottom and out allows the hairs to separate and make your beard look fuller. Once you do this then comb from the top down to get the style you are looking for. You should comb your mustache from the middle of the lip out away from the mouth. When it comes to trimming your mustache away from your lip or lining up your beard don’t use the kitchen scissors. Go and get a nice pair of trimming scissors. They are small and easy to handle and are made for trimming not cutting wrapping paper.

Growing an awesome beard is not easy, you have to put work into it but I guarantee that the hard work pays off. Pick a style that fits you and your style or lifestyle and make it amazing! Now sit back pour yourself a glass and enjoy combing your fabulous beard and ‘stache!
